On August 20, 2026, police found 18-year-old Karoline Heintz dead inside her Jeep, parked near the California Borough Library in Pennsylvania. She was about to start playing soccer at PennWest California. Her family became alarmed when she stopped responding and used an AirTag hidden in the vehicle to locate it.

Investigators promptly charged her boyfriend, 18-year-old Royce Moser, with homicide. Prosecutors allege that he stabbed her the night before outside his father’s house, moved her to the back of the Jeep, and then called his mother, Rachel Moser. The evidence presented by prosecutors includes surveillance footage showing Royce wearing blue latex gloves alongside his mother, as well as photos of discarded gloves, a knife, bloodied rags, and the vehicle. Rachel is accused of helping to clean up and conceal evidence.

Royce’s internet history added the most disturbing detail. According to testimony, he searched several times for “what removes fingerprints from objects”, “how long Ring cameras keep video”, and “what God says about murder”. Another search asked what would happen if a demon controlled someone and that person killed someone. In September 2026, a judge ordered both of them to stand trial on all the charges brought at the preliminary hearings. The cases remain pending.
