A 1964 Barbie survived decades stored away in the family basement… only to be discovered leaking a mysterious green paint that bodes nothing good. 😂

The discovery was made by @Izze1122’s dad, who found his wife’s vintage toy in perfectly aged condition: the little doll has side-glancing eyes, a bubble cut, and all the glamorous style that defined Barbie’s image in the 60s.

Collectors love it because it captures that old Hollywood-inspired era, before Barbie became more colorful and youthful in the 70s. Today, one in good condition can be worth around 200 dollars. 💸

The detail that ruins everything: that darn toxic green paint oozing out from somewhere. So if you had a Barbie from that era stored away, maybe now is a good time to head down to the basement… with gloves. 🧤

If you thought of the case of the “Radium Girls” and radium, don’t worry: it’s not that. Most likely, this Barbie had cheap metal earrings or some accessory with copper, and over the decades the metal oxidized and left that greenish stain around the ear.

It’s something quite common in old dolls from the 60s. What you’re seeing is rust or metal corrosion, not radioactivity, so there’s no reason to be alarmed.
