Jamie Lee Curtis is 67 and stopped pretending a long time ago.
In an interview with AARP’s Movies for Grownups, published in March 2026, the actress said that when she turned 60, she had an uncomfortable certainty: she was going to die “sooner rather than later”. She didn’t say it with fear; she said it like someone doing the math. And that calculation changed her completely. She stopped spending time on toxic people and relationships that added nothing to her life, because, she admitted, she no longer had time to spare.
Winner of the Oscar in 2023 for “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, Curtis also took aim at Hollywood: she described it as an ageist, misogynistic, pigeonholing world, the same one she watched destroy her parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, as they aged in front of the cameras. That’s why, she said, she has been mentally “retiring” from an industry that doesn’t forgive wrinkles since she was 30.
Today, she prefers to show them. “Freedom to me means accepting my wrinkled skin and showing it anyway”, she declared. She had previously called extreme cosmetic surgeries “aesthetic genocide”. For her, aging isn’t giving up: it’s the only honest thing left for her to do.
