“When it’s over, you’re dead to me”: Miley Cyrus explained in 2020 why the men in her life called her “cold” after every breakup

Miley Cyrus has never minced words when talking about love. In September 2020, during an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, the singer explained how she ends her relationships: “I think the men in my life have told me that I’m cold, or that I’m a cold-ass bitch because I leave when things are over”. And she went further: “When it’s over, it’s over and you’re dead to me, and we move on”.

The quote is circulating among her fans again, as they recall her most talked-about breakups, such as those with Liam Hemsworth and Cody Simpson. According to her, walking away isn’t malicious at all: it’s independence. Once a relationship reaches its natural end, she refuses to prolong it. No chasing, no endless doubts, no clinging to what is already gone.

Today, at 33, Miley is living a very different story. She is engaged to musician Maxx Morando, with whom she began a relationship in 2021. In 2026, she even described the love she is experiencing now as a relationship marked by peace, and said that feeling had become an important theme in her music.

Her relationship seems to represent a new chapter for the singer: is it coldness, or has she simply learned to let go of what no longer works and stay where she finds peace?
