It all started as a silly joke between two unemployed friends.
Moses Lam and Troy Paquette, two Canadians from Alberta, put mountain air in a Ziploc bag and uploaded it to eBay just to see what would happen. The first one sold for 99 cents. They laughed. Then they uploaded another, and a buyer in the United States paid 168 dollars for a bag of air. That’s when they stopped joking and got serious.
In 2015, they founded Vitality Air, bottled air from Banff and Lake Louise in actual cans, and started selling them in Canada and South Korea for about 20 dollars each. Today, they bring in more than 300,000 dollars a year, have a factory in Edmonton, and receive calls from China, Iran, and Afghanistan wanting to buy their star product: air.
The only thing they failed to secure was an investor on ‘Dragon’s Den,’ the Canadian Shark Tank, which turned them down in 2017. Time proved them right anyway. 🌬️💸
