Larry Phillip Colvin didn’t want to go back to work.

At 76, the Vietnam veteran delivers food for DoorDash in Mabank, Texas, six nights a week. Social Security isn’t enough to cover his wife’s medical bills—she needs surgery—or his son’s care; his son has several autoimmune diseases. “I wish I didn’t have to do this at night”, he said.

On March 14, 2026, Savannah Saulters ordered a pizza and found Colvin making deliveries at 10:30 p.m. She started a GoFundMe campaign to help his family; it has already raised more than 50.000 dollars. Colvin said the support will allow him to pay some of the bills. His daughter-in-law said the odd jobs are already taking a toll on him: Why does a 76-year-old man have to work at night to pay for his family’s medical care?
