Magdalena, Martina and Manuel had been missing for six days in Cajón del Maipo, Chile, when a weather system left them trapped deep in the mountains. Carabineros, the PDI, the Army and even Andean Rescue searched for them tirelessly. The news that they were found alive on July 22, 2026, should have been nothing but a relief.
But the internet had other plans. While authorities circulated photos of the missing women for the search operation, hundreds of social media users noticed a very different detail: the beauty filter both women used in their profile pictures. “With so many filters, it was impossible to find them”, someone wrote, and the comment filled up with people dying of laughter.
The good news, in the end, is what matters: all three were sheltering in a refuge with supplies, beds and firewood at the Termas de Colina, safe and uninjured. A happy ending, with some gossip thrown in, that not even the memes managed to overshadow 😅
