Juan Carlos Cacho had neither a limousine nor a latest-model car. He had a black bicycle, a little time, and a strong desire for his daughter to arrive at her wedding like a queen. So he washed it and dressed it with white flowers and balloons until it looked like a small carriage.

Cristina Vanessa Cacho Silva climbed on behind him, in a white dress, bouquet in hand, and her father pedaled through every street of San José Miahuatlán, in Puebla’s Sierra Negra, toward the place where Miguel, now her husband, was waiting for her. The neighbors came out to watch. No one kept their phone put away.

The photos made their way onto the internet and from there across all of Mexico in a matter of days. There was no luxury; there was something better: a father who decided to be the vehicle himself on the most important day of his daughter’s life.
