A Brazilian Civil Police investigator became the protagonist of a shocking chase after intervening in an armed robbery she witnessed while heading to work. The incident occurred when the officer, identified as Dilma Maria, was inside her SUV and saw several criminals violently assaulting a passerby to steal his cell phone.
According to reports, the robbers were traveling in a white Gol model car and threatened the victim by pointing a revolver at him. Realizing what was happening, the investigator decided to act immediately and began chasing the criminals. During the escape, the men sped away and even came close to overturning the vehicle as they desperately tried to flee.
The police officer managed to pull her SUV alongside the suspects’ car and fired three shots with the aim of forcing them to stop. Finally, the vehicle braked and two of the criminals ran off toward an area of brush. However, the officer managed to subdue and arrest the driver in the act, a 21-year-old man who was placed at the disposal of the authorities.
The case quickly went viral on social media under the phrase “sem descer do salto”, which in Portuguese means “Not even taking off her heels”. The investigator herself said in statements to the press that women can firmly fulfill their duty to protect the public “without ceasing to be queens”, becoming a symbol of bravery for thousands of internet users.
