Nearly half a century later, justice has reopened a story marked by horror. On June 6, 1978, in Thornton Heath, London, five-year-old Andrea Bernard suffered severe burns after being forced into a bathtub filled with scalding water.

Her body, burned over 50%, could not withstand the damage, and she died weeks later, on July 13. For decades, the case remained in the shadows until it was reopened in 2022.

Today, her stepmother, Janice Nix, 66, faces charges in court, denying responsibility as the past resurfaces with force.
