A Texas woman faces a serious accusation after a minor revealed what allegedly happened over the course of years inside a doctor’s office.

Alicia Evonne Sanchez, 37 years old, was arrested and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14. Investigators say she repeatedly took the victim to the office of then-doctor Kenneth Donald Haygood, in Tyler, Texas.

The arrest documents describe a disturbing situation.

The victim said Haygood performed supposed “examinations” during which he allegedly committed abuse while Sanchez remained in the room. At least 10 visits are documented during which assaults allegedly occurred, although investigators believe there may have been more.

The minor cried and asked him to stop.

But, according to the statement collected by investigators, Sanchez did not intervene and allegedly even held the victim’s arm on some occasions. When the minor questioned what was happening, they supposedly heard a disturbing explanation: “This is what doctors do”.

The investigation also alleges that there was another factor behind those visits: prescription medication.

Haygood had diagnosed the minor with ADHD and prescribed Adderall. However, the victim said they hardly ever took the pills. Sanchez allegedly emptied them into clear bags and said they were for other people who could not get them because of an alleged shortage.

The case came to light after the victim spoke about the alleged abuse with other adults and a counselor.

Haygood is already in prison. In 2025, he received eight years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to sexual assaults in a separate case. He will also have to register as a sex offender for life.

Sanchez remains in custody on $3 million bail. If convicted of the charge she faces, Texas law provides for a sentence of up to life in prison. The accusations against her have yet to be resolved in court.

What for years was allegedly presented to a minor as simple “doctor’s visits” ended up becoming an investigation into alleged abuse, medication, and a woman accused of staying there while it was all happening.
