Joslyn Pozo had simple dreams: to finish her studies and become a systems engineer.
Being run over in 2012 took that life away from her without anyone noticing right away. The dizziness and vomiting she suffered afterward seemed temporary, until in 2020 her body stopped responding completely. Today, she cannot move or stand on her own. She lives with her parents, aged 80 and 70, in a rented room in Puente Piedra, Lima, and it is her father who lifts her and carries her in his arms whenever she needs to go out.
There were nights when they did not even have a roof over their heads: the entire family slept on the street. While the father insists on continuing to carry his daughter despite his age, the mother’s health is also deteriorating. Three people, one rented room, and an act of love that is repeated every day without anyone seeing it.
