Flor was 4 years old when she went missing, in 2014. Vanessa Antonino had left her in the car for a moment, in North Chicago, and when she came back, she was gone.
Twelve years passed. Vanessa had four children, and she showed them all photos of Flor, telling them she was like their big sister. She never stopped looking for her, even though the trail had gone cold long ago.
Then a storm hit Gary, Indiana, in August 2026, hundreds of kilometers from where it all began. A woman helping with the damage found a little dog wandering near the road. She had a microchip, but the registered phone number no longer existed. Jeanette Garlow, from Lost Dogs Illinois, began investigating the case until she tracked down Vanessa, and a volunteer from the Evanston shelter drove back to Illinois with Flor. Twelve years later, the big sister returned home.
