Christopher Travis Jones went to pick up his children from daycare. He did not know it would be the last time.
Mindy Osteen, 34, and the mother of those same children, was waiting for him in Starke, Florida. She shot him several times in front of the vehicle where the children were, in 2025. She later pleaded guilty in court, without offering further explanations about what led her to that moment.
The judge set a sentence that is, in practice, equivalent to life in prison: 100 years. Osteen will spend the rest of her life behind bars, while her children grow up with the memory of having been there, inside the car, when it all happened.
