Ashley Taunton didn’t hesitate.
In the middle of a brutal storm on I-95, she saw someone stranded after a crash and stopped to help, as she always does. That’s when another car lost control because of the water and headed straight toward them. Ashley pushed the person out of harm’s way and took almost the entire impact herself. Today, this mother of three in Rhode Island has already undergone two major surgeries, with more still ahead.
Her friend Laura Ortelt started a fundraiser to cover the family’s expenses while Ashley recovers. The story reached Taylor Swift, who donated 50.000 dollars and wrote to her: “I wish you the best possible recovery and am sending lots of love to your family”. Overwhelmed, Ashley replied on Instagram that she would love to be able to hug her in person.
Since then, dozens of the singer’s fans have joined the campaign with donations of 13 dollars, her lucky number. A small gesture that, when added together, became a wave of generosity for a woman who only wanted to help. 💛
