Andrea Shaw, of Payette, Idaho, found her 18-month-old twins cold to the touch, face down in the crib, days after they received routine vaccines against hepatitis A, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, and influenza. It was in May 2025. Dallas and Tyson had been born prematurely, spent 77 days in neonatal intensive care, and according to her, the night before getting vaccinated they were “normal, perfect, and happy babies”.
Police questioned the couple from the first day, without an autopsy yet, according to what the father, Nathaniel Shaw, recounted. Weeks later, Andrea and her husband appeared on a Children’s Health Defense program, the anti-vaccine group linked to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., blaming the vaccines for their children’s deaths.
Last week, prosecutors charged her with two counts of first-degree murder, and if she is found guilty she could face the death penalty. The police theory: suffocation, not a reaction to a vaccine. She remains detained on $2 million bail, while her lawyer insists it was a medical death and anti-vaccine groups are already using her story as a banner.
