The historic Romanian-American gymnast Nadia Comaneci was once again at the center of the sports debate after speaking out in favor of gender tests in women’s competitions.
The former Olympic champion stated: “I understand inclusion, but women’s sport is for women”, defending hormonal controls and testosterone tests in disciplines such as boxing and athletics.
“We have to safeguard women’s sports and use the rules so that everyone competes fairly”, Comaneci backed the position of some sports federations to carry out eligibility verifications.
