After decades of steady work, the conventional idea for many parents is to build up savings to leave the next generation financial security.

However, the story of these parents, Geoff and Sarah Moorhouse, took a 180-degree turn when they made a firm decision: to enjoy every last cent of their money while they were alive rather than turn it into an inheritance.

Their children are already independent adults with careers and goals of their own. On this basis, their father argues that his true parental responsibility ended when he raised, educated, and prepared them to fend for themselves in the real world, so holding on to his income for others’ future no longer makes sense.

Far from considering it a selfish act, he maintains that using the fruits of his labor to travel, have experiences, and enjoy his golden years is the greatest reward for a lifetime of work.
While this position sparks divided opinions between those who champion financial freedom in old age and those who prioritize family wealth, the debate is on: is it right to spend it all while you’re alive, or should you think about your children?
