A job posting was asking for something that did not add up: a professional psychology degree, criminal record certificate, first aid training… to work as a domestic worker 🤔

The salary: less than 850 dollars per month ($800.000 Chilean pesos). The duties: provide emotional support to a teenager, coordinate with other professionals, but also cook, clean, go to the supermarket, and wash the household’s clothes. The posting clarified that it was not formal psychological care, although it required all the training of one.

Social media users were quick to react, and many spoke of a “maid with a degree”. The pressure was such that the offer was ultimately removed from the platform, while the Chilean College of Psychologists stepped in to distance itself: it described it as having “serious ethical, professional, and legal problems” incompatible with the profession. 📢
