Jonah Hill became famous when he was barely a teenager. 🎬
And that’s where it all began: “I spent much of my youth hearing that I was fat, disgusting, and unattractive”, he confessed to Ellen DeGeneres in 2018. It wasn’t said by a stranger or an internet hater. He said it himself, about his own life, about entire years of ridicule that remained stuck beneath his skin.
Hill acknowledged that he only began to understand the real weight of those words four years before that interview, while writing and directing Mid90s. To process it, he created “Inner Children”, a self-published magazine about self-love where he invited 12 other people to talk about their own insecurities.
His body changed many times in front of the cameras: he lost weight for Moneyball, gained weight for War Dogs. But what really changed was the way he decided to tell his story. 🌱
