Joe Dimeo knows that life can change in an instant. After surviving an accident that left burns over 80% of his body, losing his fingers, and undergoing 20 reconstructive surgeries, he received a face and both hands transplant that gave him a second chance.

But if there is one thing that has stayed with him throughout this journey, it is his outlook on life. His optimism, even in the most difficult moments, amazed the doctors who made the historic operation possible. Today, Joe is working to regain his independence and dreams of driving again, but he also wants to inspire those facing battles of their own.

“You have to learn to face life’s blows, whatever life has in store for you. There is always light at the end of the tunnel”, he reflects. Because sometimes, starting over also means learning to smile again. ❤️
