A red light. That is all the time she has. At that intersection near San Felipe Hill, in Cartagena, a woman who makes a living cleaning windshields uses every minute for something more important: getting her children ready for school.
With an umbrella as a roof, a comb, and a little water, she combs, cleans, and straightens her children’s uniforms amid honking horns and running engines. A driver recorded the scene without her noticing and left her a bill before driving away.
The clip spread across social media, and some neighbors managed to identify her and help with what the children needed.
Thousands now recognize her as an example that poverty does not erase love or discipline. As the light turns green, she has already started again, as she does every morning.
