Lalit Patidar is 19 years old and needs to sit in a barber’s chair every one or two months.
It’s not for aesthetic reasons. He lives with hypertrichosis, a rare condition that causes excessive hair growth in different parts of the body. If he doesn’t trim it, the hair on his nose, ears, and face can make basic actions like breathing, seeing, hearing, or eating difficult.
His barber works with great care because of the amount of hair he has to cut. Over time, what began as a professional relationship became a friendship, and Lalit highlights the kind and respectful treatment he receives on every visit.
His story will appear on TLC’s ‘My Extraordinary Life’, where viewers will see his day-to-day life and the bond he has built with the person who helps him feel comfortable and accepted.
