Jack Tyler Laroche is 22 years old and has one fixed idea: getting content for his YouTube channel, regardless of the cost.
On August 21, he followed a student from the University of North Florida from his dorm room to a bathroom in Jacksonville. The young man, who has autism, locked himself in a stall in the hope that Laroche would leave him alone. Laroche forced the door open, demanded his phone number to “verify that he was real”, and put him in a headlock while recording him. He repeatedly tapped him in the face until breaking his glasses. Police documented abrasions on his nose and swelling in his cheeks.
Before leaving, he ordered him to set a 10-minute timer and not leave the bathroom, or “he would come back for him”. The student obeyed out of fear and, as soon as the alarm sounded, drove straight to the police station. When police found Laroche walking around campus, he gave a false name and said he was a student. He eventually confessed that he was only “playing around” for YouTube.
