Ibai Llanos, the Spanish streamer with nearly 20 million followers on Twitch, sparked controversy during a live broadcast alongside Argentine streamer La Cobra.

He was blunt: “The one in Qatar doesn’t count”, he said about the 2022 World Cup, and doubled down with “Argentina has two World Cups”, as if he could erase with the stroke of a pen what FIFA has already officially certified. 🏆

His argument: a country without a football tradition, stadiums put together for the occasion, and a schedule moved to December. He said it just as Argentina is in the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup, after eliminating Switzerland with goals from Mac Allister, Julián Álvarez, and Lautaro Martínez. He also added that Scaloni’s team has no chance in a potential matchup against Spain.

“The problem is that this title does not depend on a streamer’s opinion”, some said. And you, do you think someone can decide which World Cup counts and which does not? 🤔
