Zafira doesn’t run like other dogs. Her hind legs don’t allow her to, so every afternoon, when her owner Hector Del Rosario returns from work, he becomes her legs.
Using a turquoise leash, he supports her from behind and helps her move around the garden while Nemo, her brother, runs freely around her. It’s not a trick or a training routine: it’s the ritual that has brought them together for a long time, the way they found so that neither of them has to miss out on playing.
Hector puts it simply: he arrives with his head full of the day’s tasks, and when he sees them running together, everything falls into place. Zafira doesn’t know that she needs help to play. She only knows that she can do it, and to her owner, that is worth more than anything else.
