Bottles, cups, containers and food scraps were left scattered around Plaza del Pilar in Zaragoza after thousands of people celebrated Spain’s victory in the World Cup final.
The images, shared by El Español de Aragón, show what the place looked like after a day that brought together more than 32.000 fans. Among the reactions, one blunt comment stood out: “They even left their neurons behind”.

The celebration ended, but the enormous amount of rubbish left behind once again sparked debate about the behaviour of some attendees at large-scale festivities.
