Brigitte Macron approached Zendaya to greet her at a Louis Vuitton show, and she didn’t even get up to speak to her. Bad manners toward the First Lady of France, or too much drama on social media?

Zendaya was in the front row at the Louis Vuitton show in the courtyard of the Louvre when Brigitte Macron approached to greet her.

In the video shared by Paris Match, the actress is talking with another guest, looks up, smiles, and says “hello, nice to meet you” as she shakes her hand. All without getting up from her seat. The gesture lasted seconds, but a tweet calling on her to stand up for the First Lady of France racked up 27.000 likes and ignited the debate.

For some, standing up is the bare minimum, whoever is arriving. And some users pointed out that she didn’t get up when Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, greeted her either. For others, Zendaya is neither a French citizen nor a foreign dignitary, she was caught off guard, and the important thing is that she was kind.

Was she ill-mannered, or is someone blowing a scene that lasted seconds out of proportion?
