Animal nutrition and health programs at the BioParque in Rio de Janeiro incorporate refreshing food popsicles to ensure the thermal well-being of wild species.

The facility’s team periodically distributes customized ice treats made of ground meat, blood, or fruit throughout the 50,000-square-meter enclosure located in Quinta de Boa Vista. Biologist Leticia Feitosa explained that jaguars eat ice with meat and monkeys receive frozen fruit portions.

These frozen snacks work as an excellent adaptation tool in the face of high temperatures that exceed 40 degrees during the hottest seasons.
