Following Cienciano’s historic 1-0 victory over Atlético Mineiro in the Copa Sudamericana, Argentine coach Horacio Melgarejo was visibly annoyed by the journalists’ questions.
Although his team emerged victorious from a difficult match, some questions suggested the margin of victory should have been greater, which infuriated the coach, who responded with candor, perhaps too much so.
“You ask such stupid questions, I can’t believe it. How awful you are! Look, I’m a bad coach myself, but some of you leave much to be desired,” the coach exploded.
“I think you journalists, because we wear red, must think we’re Liverpool,” Melgarejo retorted to conclude the press conference.
