Dani Alves was a star player for Barcelona, a club where he won numerous titles and formed one of the best partnerships with Lionel Messi.

But his successful career took an abrupt turn after he was sentenced to prison following an abuse allegation, which kept him behind bars for 14 months.

The Brazilian was acquitted in 2024 and has since devoted himself entirely to preaching the gospel, even leading a Christian event in front of 40,000 people at Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium.

“I was detained for exactly 40 years. But in prison, Christ set me free,” the former soccer player told the crowd.
