FC Schalke 04 threw a private party on a yacht in Ibiza to celebrate their return to the Bundesliga after two years in Germany’s second division.
After clinching the title and promotion with two matches to spare, several players traveled to the Spanish island and shared videos of the celebration that went viral.
One of the main figures was Loris Karius, who took on the role of DJ during the celebration and played music for his teammates aboard the yacht. Meanwhile, Edin Dzeko grabbed the microphone and led the chants.
The promotion meant enormous relief for the German club, which had gone through very difficult years marked by relegations and sporting problems. That’s why the fans saw the celebration as a well-deserved reward and even joked on social media about Karius’s DJ side.
Schalke still has to play its final matches of the season, but it has already secured the championship and its return to the top tier of German football.
