Keyonna Waddell, a 35-year-old woman from New York, was found guilty of throwing a homemade dynamite cartridge into her partner’s bedroom while he was sleeping, after an argument in March 2024.
The man left the apartment and told Waddell to leave. When he came back, he thought she had gone and went to sleep; however, he woke up to a whistling sound and saw a flame on the floor. He tried to throw the explosive away to save himself, but it detonated and he lost a hand and part of his arm.
According to prosecutors, she had previously threatened to use dynamite against him on other occasions. She now faces up to 25 years in prison for a case that shocked people due to its extreme violence.
