When love is sincere and honest, there are no social, racial, cultural, or gender barriers that can stand in its way. What matters is loving not only with the body, but also with the soul. I wish you the greatest happiness. It will be a pleasure to meet your new love,” wrote the grandfather.
Last October 18, Abril Couceiro decided to tell her grandmother that she was in love with a woman and that she had a girlfriend. That day, not only did the elderly woman find out, but so did her 76-year-old grandfather, Edgar. The 19-year-old did not know what to expect.
Fortunately, Abril received nothing but love and affection from her grandparents. The young woman was deeply moved and shared the messages they sent her on her Twitter account, where they quickly went viral.

The story began when Abril told her grandmother during Mother’s Day celebrations in Argentina. At that moment, the elderly woman told her that she “had already sensed it.”
“She immediately told me that her mother, meaning my great-grandmother, had taught her to respect the way each person loves. She said that when she was young, they had a neighbor who was gay, with everything that being gay meant at that time, and that her mother had explained to her that he was just another person and had the right to love whoever he wanted,” the young woman told Infobae.

When her grandmother got into the car, she told her husband, Edgar Barrales. The next day, Abril received a message from him.
“Dear Abril: You are such a good and genuine person that my heart had sensed it for a long time. When love is sincere and honest, there are no social, racial, cultural, or gender barriers that can stand in its way. What matters is loving not only with the body, but also with the soul. I wish you the greatest happiness. It will be a pleasure to meet your new love. I love you, your grandfather,” he wrote.

Abril was working alongside her girlfriend Martina when she received Edgar’s WhatsApp message. “Tears were falling from my eyes. I wanted to read it out loud and I couldn’t because my voice kept breaking. It moved me that he wasn’t talking about my sexual orientation, he was talking about love, and that’s what my grandfather shows every day. It’s the way he faces the world: love can never be wrong,” she told the Argentine outlet.
In another tweet, the Argentine woman shared her grandmother’s message. “Hello my princess and beloved granddaughter. You know that from the day you were born, you have been my love. You told me yourself, and that touched my heart because I see you happy. So go forward. I understand that I still have many things to learn, and you are teaching me, which is a good thing. Your happiness is mine. I love you,” she wrote.
