Callum Palmer, 19 years old, was convicted in the United Kingdom after throwing a cat into the air from a great height in a terrible act of abuse that was recorded and shared on social media. The cowardly act occurred while he was under the influence of alcohol and in the company of friends.

In the video, the man grabs Apollo by the tail and throws him six meters into the air against the roof of a structure. Although the cat survived, experts indicated that he suffered intense pain and stress.

After the images were circulated, an animal protection organization investigated the case, identified him, and took him to trial. The court stated in a report that: “The offender showed a cruel indifference to the cat’s welfare” and added that “the incident appears to have occurred simply for entertainment purposes.”

He was found guilty and was given penalties of 12 months of community service and 60 days of alcohol abstinence.
