The mother of the three babies died after giving birth due to a bacterial infection in her body. Hugo Alberto Vicente needs support.

On May 1, 2020, at the Primero de Mayo Hospital in El Salvador, three baby triplets were born: Ana Zafiro, Andrea Nicolle, and Ariana Giselle. Twelve days later, the newborns were discharged, and their father, Hugo Alberto Vicente, received them—alone. Unfortunately, their mother, Erika, passed away ten days after giving birth due to complications caused by a bacterial infection.

After the delivery, Erika never woke up from anesthesia and passed away, according to the family’s account to the local newspaper La Prensa Gráfica. They were only told that a bacterium attacked her during the procedure and she lost her life. A very difficult moment for the entire family.

Hugo Alberto Vicente told the newspaper that he has mixed feelings about the situation. While he feels happiness at being the father of three girls, the pain of losing his beloved partner and the babies’ mother is immense.

The father also knows how difficult it is to raise three babies and has asked for help to manage it. He needs supplies, baby food, clothing, and other essential items. He has requested support from individuals and charitable institutions. Fortunately, some relatives take turns caring for the triplets while he works in the mornings.

The family lives in the Vista Linda neighborhood, in the canton of Plan del Pino, in the municipality of Ciudad Delgado. There, they were visited by the mayor, Elmer Cardoza, accompanied by a doctor and a psychologist, who checked on the health of the three girls and provided psychological support. The triplets also have a 5-year-old older sister.
