Liam Pearce is a 27-year-old entrepreneur living in the United Kingdom who relies on technology to keep his body functioning after being diagnosed with end-stage heart failure.

At night, he must plug himself into an electrical outlet to recharge a left ventricular assist device that mechanically pumps blood. During the day, he uses portable batteries that he carries in a 7-kilogram bag slung over his shoulder.

This genetic condition was detected in 2023 after he visited Harefield Hospital in Uxbridge on his mother’s recommendation. Liam is currently preparing for a heart transplant while training for a marathon and raising awareness among thousands of people about the fragility of life.
