She also spent 2 years in the ghetto, unable to bathe or eat enough. This is why she doesn’t understand why people can’t bear spending 2 weeks at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If she could do it, everyone can.
The coronavirus is one of the most serious pandemics in recent history. Its statistics and infection rates confirm this. This disease is now present in all continents and is especially fatal for older adults, the chronically ill and others who belong to the riskiest health groups.
The more than 227 thousand cases of contagion in the world and the, so far, 9,642 deaths worldwide, speak to us of a concerning reality that has rightly alarmed the entire planet. Argentina is one of the countries that, unfortunately, already has mortality figures. Its 79 cases of infection include two deaths caused by COVID-19.
This has driven the government of Argentina to carry out various measures to defend the population of its country against a disease that is becoming increasingly serious at a global level. Among these is the call to take social distance and to not leave the house, in other words, a personal quarantine.
“Coronavirus: this is how I’ll be waiting for you. #simple #homegirl”
However, not everyone in Argentina is following that recommendation, which is why many, including an endless number of celebrities, are promoting the #YoMeQuedoEnCasa (#IStayAtHome) campaign. Their objective is to raise awareness about the importance of not leaving the house to avoid the spread of this pandemic.
It was in this context that Connie Ansaldi, an Argentine journalist, recorded an emotional and powerful video starring her grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, who calls for everyone to stay home.
– Tell people to stay at home. How many years did you stay hidden in a well? – said Connie.
– Three years. Without bathing, nothing- answered her grandmother.
– So, people staying in their house is OK, right?
– How can you compare me to that! I spent almost two years in the ghetto, too.
– There you have it! Stay home!
– this is the conversation that Connie had with this 93-year-old survivor.
“Recently, my grandmother (a Holocaust survivor) told me: “I spent 3 years hiding in an underground well so they wouldn’t kill me and then 2 years in the ghetto. Without bathing and almost no food. Can’t people get through 2 weeks at home? “
We talk a lot about what’s going on. She’s not afraid for herself, but for us. Let’s take care of #Abuli. My grandma. Everyone’s grandmas. The vulnerable and the healthy who may be affected. Everything has a solution except death.”
This is also a war with an invisible enemy. #IStayAtHome YOU STAY, TOO ❤️
The video already has more than 290,535 views in just one day. It’s an important call to raise awareness and demonstrate that it is possible to stay home two weeks, or more, in quarantine, for everyone’s sake.
