A woman was arrested in the city of Joinville, Brazil, after her French bulldog was treated for ingesting a banned substance.

The owner took the 3-month-old dog to a clinic on April 17, 2026, after noticing severe signs of poisoning. Veterinarians performed emergency surgery, during which they removed 55 units of a white powder weighing approximately 12 grams in total. Following the discovery, staff at the medical center notified the police, who arrested the owner after she confessed that the substance belonged to her.

The woman is currently wearing an electronic monitor, while the puppy’s condition remains critical.
