Luis Ricardo Ruiz told how one of his employees, Rosita, wanted to quit her job because she had no one to leave her baby with, so he himself agreed to take care of the girl.
When companies hire employees to fill the jobs they need to fill, they have to remember that they aren’t just workers, but real people with families and their own issues to solve.
That is why managers must keep in mind that each person is particular with their own living conditions and needs, which is even more variable when it comes to parents with young children. That’s why the manager must put his hand on his heart to be comprehensive with his workers’ problems.
Although not all bosses are empathetic, there are some like Luis Ricardo Ruiz, who’s recently become known for the sensitivity he showed to one of his workers. Knowing that Rosita, one of his employees, didn’t have time to take care of her daughter, he let her take the baby to work so he could take care of her.
Ruiz, who owns a printing shop called BigPrint in the city of Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico, told the story on his Facebook account. “Vianey is Rosita’s daughter. In the last few days she has been visiting us daily because Rosita is having trouble finding someone to take care of her, and she wanted to quit for that reason. I told her not to leave because of that, and that she could bring her whenever she wants to BigPrint, and she put her right next to me when she’s here,” he wrote.
“You know that it doesn’t take months or years to get attached to children. I even gave her her nickname, Zarita, who will surely be with us for many days here. She’s always smiling and doesn’t cry at all, but she does yell at you if she’s bored. Welcome Zarita to the BigPrint team. She makes our days much more cheerful,” he added.
What started as a simple comment that Ruiz wanted to make on his social media turned into a viral post, which already has more than 28,000 reactions. “I am enormously surprised that Rosita’s publication went viral. We never did it with that intention, but hopefully it will motivate other people to do the same and support our collaborators a little more,” said Ruiz.
