Some people have very clear goals from a very young age. Such is the case with Justin, a 7-year-old boy who has decided to finish school, despite the difficulties he faces at home. In fact, the little boy takes his little sister to school with him, as there is nobody else to look after her.
The boy attends Salvación Elementary School in The Philippines and in 2018 he sparked admiration from people across his country, after his teacher posted a photo of him sitting in class with his little sister on his lap, which went viral.
Although the incident took place two years ago, the little boy’s motivation continues to garner praise, as it looks like nothing can stop him. In fact, according to local news outlet KCMP News, Justin has decided that he will finish school, no matter what.
“I don’t want to skip a day, Miss, I’ll bring my one-year-old sister to school with me because my grandma has to work on a farm so there is nobody to look after her,” said Justin.
The boy’s teacher, Mam Lei, was surprised at how many people were impacted by the photo. She had intended to show the lengths that some students go to to keep up with their studies.
Since his story became a trending topic in the Asian country, Justin has become a role model for many. His is one of many stories of families affected by a lack of resources and who struggle to take care of their children because of the constant battle to earn a living.
