The American Girl catalog from October had a very special headliner and it was a beautiful girl called Ivy.

American Girl is a toy brand that really cares about representation when it comes to little girls. Their catalogs and toys always include girls who wear hearing aids, insulin equipment, crutches, service dogs and wheelchairs.

However, for the first time, their main catalogue featured a girl with Down syndrome. Her name is Ivy Kimble and she’s the star of this photoshoot.

In the October edition, besides adding more diverse dolls, they also have chosen to diversify their models. Ivy is 4 years old and she appears holding a doll. The special thing is that the doll also has Down syndrome.

With a shiny red dress and a huge smile on her face, this girl stole the scene and sparked excitement with this new campaign from the toy brand. But not only did she make proud thousands of people, she also made her mother extremely proud.

“I have four girls and having one of them in an American Girl catalog is every mother’s dream,Kristen Kimble said on ABC7.

For Kristen, that her daughter Ivy showing up on the catalog feels, “very special, having a girl with Down syndrome, it’s sad that they don’t get a lot of representation.”

“This is something really important for her. I mean, she’s a cute girl and she has Down syndrome and she is in the catalog. We’re proud.”

But that’s not all, since she would like to see this sort of inclusion as something natural in the near future. “It’s really cool to see all the positive attention Ivy has gathered, but the best thing is that her presence in the magazine has been accepted as something normal.”

“We want to keep seeing children from every sort of background on the catalog,” this young mother said.

Little Ivy is moving forward in the world of catalogs and modeling, and we can’t agree more on the camera absolutely adoring her.

A genius.
