The story began on Mother’s Day in Argentina, when Abril decided to tell her grandmother her news. The first thing the older woman replied was: “you know, I had a feeling”.
“And then she told me that her mom, or rather my great-grandmother had taught her to respect love in all its forms. When Abril’s Grandma got in the car, she told her husband, Edgar Barrales. The next day he also sent her a message.

Abril was working with her girlfriend Martina, when she received Edgar’s WhatsApp. “Tears were running down my face, I wanted to read it out loud but my voice was shaking. I was moved by the fact he didn’t mention my sexual orientation but rather spoke of love, which is something that my grandad radiates everyday, it’s his way of looking at the world: Love can never be wrong”, she told the Argentinian site.
