Mutebe Henry lost his father during childhood, and because of how busy his mother was, Wilson Dhabangi visited him every Sunday at boarding school. Since then, they’ve formed a very special bond that they maintain to this day.

Not all people grow up with their parents close by; some lose them, but fortunately, in a couple of cases, they find that missing love in another human being. Mutebe Henry, a man from Uganda shared on Facebook how a gentleman outside his family became his father figure.

Henry’s father passed away in 1996 when he was just a child, and his mother had to cope with life by working twice as hard to make sure her son didn’t lack anything.

To give him an excellent education, she enrolled him in an elementary school, which served as a boarding school. She could visit him but hardly ever had the time to do so. However, Wilson Dhabangi, a worker in the village where he lived, went to see him as a surprise, marking the beginning of a very special bond.

After Henry knew Wilson, a man who worked transporting passengers on a humble bicycle heard that the boy’s mother was spending some time away, he decided to go and keep him company. He visited him every Sunday without fail for the two years he attended that school.

«It didn’t matter if it was raining or not… if he was sick or well. He came to visit me by bicycle,» Henry said in his publication.

In between so many conversations, Henry noticed that Wilson mentioned the idea of flying in an airplane quite often, as if it were a dashed dream of his. «He told me that if I worked hard and listened to the teachers, I would fly in airplanes and travel to different places. He said that if he was successful, even people like him who never received an education might get a chance to fly. For some reason, he always emphasized the theme of flying,» Henry said in his text.

It’s a detail he always remembered. Now that Henry is all grown up, he met up with Wilson and Rebecca, a friend of his mother’s, who also helped him give them a beautiful surprise. Without telling them where they were going, he took them on a plane ride to Nairobi. «I finally told him the news. Wilson cried and my heart sank,» Henry detailed on Facebook.

Wilson was so excited to fly for the first time in his life and couldn’t stop asking questions. «I have been on airplanes for some time, but I have not felt as happy as today,» Henry expressed in the post.

Henry feels so grateful to Wilson that he wants to do more for him, which is why he set out to finish building his house. To do so, he is receiving donations with the help of Uganda Airlines.

«To all the Wilson’s and Rebecca’s of this world, thank you for lending us a hand, believing in us and giving us unconditional love. God bless you,» Henry concluded in his message.

Wilson turned Henry into a great human being.
