One random day, Kristi received a text from her husband that read, «I’m not happy, I want more. If you’re coming home, I won’t be here.» From that moment on, her life changed forever. «He was my best friend, my other half,» she explained.
Living together as a couple isn’t always easy. Many times, there can be complicated moments when people have different customs and upbringings. These can clash and tear down the love that the two people may have for each other.
That is why bad cohabitation can end relationships that have lasted for years and break the trust of two people who loved each other, even if they have been in a relationship for a long time.

Something similar happened to Kristi Sives. Her relationship with her husband deteriorated rapidly, to the point where the two were unable to hold a conversation. As she told “Love What Matters”, her husband left home, letting her know via text message.
«I’m not happy. I want more. If you’re coming home, I won’t be here,» read the message her husband sent her before leaving her and their 11-month-old son.

According to Kristi, when she arrived at the house, her husband’s things were no longer there. She tried to contact him by calling him on his cell phone, but it was turned off. Apparently, her husband never wanted to hear from her again.
The woman went on with her life for the next week, having to take care of her young son. However, the sadness was overpowering. «I obsessed over lists (…) looking for something that may have led to this. Some sign. A reason,» Kristi explained.

In fact, she reached out to her husband’s family, but no one had heard about his departure, and they were shocked to find out what had happened. «He was my best friend, my other half. We did everything together (…) He was the person I still got excited to see every night when he would come home from work. I never fathomed a life without him by my side,» she added.
Her husband decided he wanted to speed up the divorce process. Despite that, he started showing up sporadically in Kristi’s life, but in a hostile and humiliating way. He would make rude comments and insult her to provoke her.

Kristi decided to leave everything behind and moved with her son to South Jersey, USA, a year after the breakup of the marriage to resume parts of her life that she’d put on hold because of the marriage, such as her studies.
For her, to be able to bounce back is a source of pride in her life, since she can look back and marvel at the perseverance she has had all these years. «I know I can get through anything life throws at me. I am strong. I am beautiful. I am resilient,» she added.

Even though it’s been a year since the breakup, Kristi knows that recovering is a long process and that it won’t happen overnight, but she has hope for herself. «I am still healing, and I know I may never entirely recover from this, but I’m fighting like hell to make a life for myself and my son,» she closed.
