“Just think of all those hours of sleep you’ve already got on the rest of humanity, all the nights no partner or child has kicked you awake. Holidays will also be better.” says Emma John, who says that she has more time and money thanks to her decision.
One of the most annoying aspects of a young woman’s life is having to deal with the pressure of motherhood. Whether it’s because they’ve yet to find a partner or because they’ve simply chosen a different path, many women find that upon reaching a certain age without having settled down with a husband or started a family, their lifestyle starts to generate suspicion and even anger in some people. Especially if those people are older or more socially conservative.
That was, in part, what Emma John, a British author, was tired of and she chose to turn her single status from a perceived problem into a cause.
comprometerse y vivir para siempre con él.
For one reason or another, as the years went by Emma never found a partner she wanted to commit to long term. In an interview with The Sun, Emma explained that one of the reasons she’s single is that she’s simply never found a partner that she’s loved enough to want to spend her life with them.
Now that she’s entered her 40’s without getting married or having children, Emma has begun to appreciate the benefits of her lifestyle.
“Think of all those hours of sleep you’ve already got on the rest of humanity, all the nights no partner or child has kicked you awake. Holidays will also be better. No compromise destinations, no make-the-best-of-it camping, no hours of enforced boredom in the cafe of a soft-play centre. You won’t be hamstrung by your partner’s reluctance to go out or the complex tapestry of kids’ extra-curricular activity.”
–Emma John told The Sun–
Emma decided to take her lifestyle to the next level, writing an autobiographical novel to tell her story. The decision not to “give in” to the stereotypical idea of life, being married with kids, has meant she has a lot of resources at her disposal (which she has invested in a jazzy sports car), as well as hours of uninterrupted sleep, which she assures has helped her to stay looking more youthful.
Despite being in her 40s, Emma has a youthful energy. That being said, it’s difficult to judge a lifestyle that is so different to hers, such as having a child or a family, if she’s never experienced it. The only thing we can say for certain is that, if it works for Emma, we should be happy for her.
