Man gave up everything to care for 800 abandoned puppies. He sleeps with them to be closer to them

This is what Antonio thought, a 58-year-old Brazilian man who gave up everything in his life to care for 800 dogs on a piece of land he bought to turn it into a home for animals.

According to information from Razoes Para Acreditar, Antonio has always been an animal lover, but he had never dedicated himself to rescuing them or helping them heal from the onslaught of the hostile streets.

It must be remembered that animals that are left to fend for themselves on the streets must overcome different types of obstacles. Many of these challenges decide their survival.

Antonio knew that the love he had for these creatures had to be translated into some kind of direct help. So, scarred by what happened to his pit bull, who had cancer and died, he decided to quit his job and spend his money on a property where he could care for those little dogs that needed it most.

This man stayed there and started sleeping on a cold, hard wooden table. This way he could be closer to the dogs and prevent them from getting lost or having something bad happen to them.

Since he has to spend money to maintain the farm and his 800 puppies, he often doesn’t have a good time financially.

As he explained, the puppies consume 200 kilos of food a day. In addition, he has to buy monthly medication and medical supplies for those undergoing special treatment.

The shelter has two employees who help Antonio look after the dogs during the day while he is at work. On top of that, they have a cook who makes special food for those puppies who need it.

Even though he constantly has to be helped through donations and collections, Antonio doesn’t regret giving up everything to be with the dogs.
