“You arrived, my princess. Thank you because, until now you have sustained me, Lord. I have trusted you, and I believe I will still live long years,” said Karina, who suffers from xeroderma pigmentosum.

There are people who, for reasons of life, go through extremely hard situations, from which few can get back up on their feet. However, they still believe that it’s possible to grow and never stop smiling. An example of this is Karina’s case, a mother from Fortaleza, Brazil, who after her health declined due to a rare disease she suffers, now welcomed her daughter, Zaya.

This became known thanks to a post on the social media platform Facebook by the charity organization Razones Para Creer, which has accompanied Karina, known as Kah, in her recovery process.

When she was 32 years old, the girl had already gone through more than 150 surgeries to remove cancerous spots and tumors since she suffers from xeroderma pigmentosum, a pathology that produces hypersensitivity of the skin in reaction to ultraviolet rays, making it look completely burned.

Due to this condition, she even lost part of her ear, nose, eyes and mouth, a situation that has led her to need support and donations to be able to pay for her expensive medical treatments. In addition, she’s had to deal with bad comments from some ignorant people who don’t understand what she suffers from.

However, in the midst of all these difficulties, she has tried to lead a life as close to normal as possible, and she’s now happy with her daughter in her arms, who was born healthy and with no apparent problems.

“You arrived, my princess. Thank you because, until now you have sustained me, Lord. I have trusted you, and I believe I will still live long years (…) Zaya, my miracle, welcome, my princess. Mommy, daddy, and your brothers love you very much. You came to bring us blessings and many joys. You are light, my precious one,” wrote the mother on her social media to celebrate the little girl’s arrival.

“The voice of the angel whispered in my ear. I don’t doubt it because I heard your signs, that you would come on a Sunday morning, and he announced you in the bell of the cathedrals! God had already planned everything; he’d already written everything. When I consecrated you, you were still in my womb. He wrote your story, and he did everything according to his will, in the most perfect way in the world,” she added.
