After watching his teacher, Joyce Jarr, fall and hit her head, the boy didn’t panic and called 911. The city sheriff gave her a diploma and a bicycle, and the teacher’s son thanked him with a new pair of sneakers.

There are children who, at their young age, already demonstrate different values regarding their respect for their environment and people, to such an extent that some of them star in stories that turn them into heroes. This was the case with Max Meza, who saved his teacher’s life.

According to information from ABC, the police in Florida, they received a tip from Frostproof Elementary School because a substitute teacher, named Joyce Darr, had suffered a serious accident. She’d fallen to the ground and hit her head hard.

On arrival at the scene, they realized that, had it not been for the 6-year-old’s quick action, the fall would have been fatal for the teacher. Max rushed to the nearest phone at the school and called 911 for an ambulance to come to his teacher’s aid.

Joyce suffered head trauma after her fall, so when he called 911, the boy stayed behind to keep her company and calm her down following the accident. The woman was hospitalized for 12 days due to a brain hemorrhage, but if it wasn’t for the child, it would have been much worse.

The boy’s mother, Monica Aguilar, said, “My heart skipped a beat when I heard about it because, you know, it’s a 6-year-old boy saving an older woman’s life. So, for me, it was very, very exciting. And I was proud, you know, to be his mother”.

After a couple of days, Max went to visit his teacher in the hospital. There, he met the teacher’s son, Derek Darr, who thanked the boy for his quick action to save his mother’s life. “I hugged him probably about 20 times and thanked him 100 more times,” Derek recounted.

On top of that, the teacher’s son presented Max with a brand-new pair of Air Jordan sneakers as a gesture of thanks.

However, that wasn’t the only prize the boy received for his good deed. His local sheriff, Grady Judd, organized a ceremony where he presented Max with a citizen’s certificate and a new bicycle. “Max is a hero. He saved her life,” Judd said. For now, the woman is still recovering in hospital.
