Nyakim Gatwech is a victim of these prejudices. She’s managed to overcome them and fulfill her dreams. This 24-year-old model from South Sudan who currently resides in Minnesota, the United States stands out and receives praise for her beauty and dark complexion.

Once an Uber driver advised her to make her skin lighter, to which she just replied with laughter. Her life and success send a message to those of Africa descent around the world.

So is what I represent… a nation of warriors.” she says on her Instagram, always with a smile and great confidence.
